Alpine Slides & Thrill Activities in Winter Park, Colorado

If you're the type of person who loves a little adrenaline, Winter Park is your playground. Whether you're looking for family-friendly excitement or heart-pounding mountain adventures, there's no shortage of ways to get your heart racing.
The most popular are downhill mountain biking, downhill boarding, and backpacking through Colorado's incredible backcountry. But no matter your thrill level, there's something here for everyone.
Summer Adventures at Winter Park Resort
Summer at Winter Park Resort is packed with adventure. One of the most popular attractions is the Alpine Slide, where you'll race down winding tracks while taking in incredible mountain views.
Looking for even more excitement? You can also enjoy:
- Downhill mountain biking on the nationally recognized Trestle Bike Park trails
- The climbing wall
- The ropes course for younger adventurers
- Scenic gondola rides (which, if you're like my mom, are thrilling enough!)
Whether you're an experienced rider or trying these activities for the first time, Winter Park Resort offers something for every comfort level.

Winter Thrills
When the snow starts falling, Winter Park transforms into one of Colorado's best destinations for skiing and snowboarding.
Advanced riders won't want to miss terrain like:
- The Cirque
- Vasquez Ridge
- Trestle Trees
- The Chutes
If you're looking for an even bigger adventure, nearby Berthoud Pass offers incredible backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Before heading into the backcountry, always travel with a partner, carry avalanche safety equipment (including a beacon), and check current avalanche conditions. Taking an avalanche safety course through Friends of Berthoud Pass or another local organization is highly recommended.

Saddle Up at the Rodeo
Summer in Winter Park also means rodeo season!
Watch bull riders and bucking broncos put on an unforgettable show, then stick around for everyone's favorite event—Mutton Bustin'. Kids climb aboard sheep to see who can hang on the longest, creating one of the funniest and most entertaining traditions in the rodeo.
It's a must-see event for visitors of all ages.

Stay Close to the Adventure at Sojourn at Idlewild
The best part about living or vacationing at Sojourn at Idlewild is that all of these adventures are just minutes from your front door. Whether you're carving fresh powder, flying down a mountain bike trail, or taking a scenic gondola ride, you'll quickly understand why so many people fall in love with Winter Park.
Around here, we like to call it "perma-grin"—that feeling when you can't stop smiling after an unforgettable day in the mountains.
